The Anya Project and the recent Corona Virus is what inspired me for the content of this post. What a beautiful, inspired project, and what a nerve-racking time it is in regards to health and safety of our families. I have struggled with anxiety for many years now, and it definitely intensified after the delivery of my sweet boy. It’s hard. It’s hard battling anxiety while taking care of a newborn, and truthfully It’s hard having anxiety at any point in your life.
Honestly, in regards to treatment, I am an advocate for going to counseling! I have worked in a counseling office for about five years and seen countless amounts of women overcome many mental battles. I have gone to counseling myself and am truly appreciative of trained professionals who have helped me in ways I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own. I am also an advocate for medication depending on the severity of it.
Now let’s be real here… it took me a long time to convince myself that I needed help apart from my own self and journaling. So truthfully, in that time I wish I would have had some resources as I was trying to work through some things on my own. With that being said, I compiled a short list of books that counselors and some women who have battled anxiety recommended. I haven’t read them all, but after compiling this list, I now have a few more to read during our quarantine.
In no particular order:
If you have any personal recommendations, please leave them in the comments! I would love to hear from you! Take care everyone, and let’s take care of each other!
