Hey mamas! If you know me then you know that I love open ended toys. They are my favorite kind of toys to purchase and to give as gifts because I know that they can be used for so many things.
I love being able to see my girls play with these toys, and then in the next moment see them learn from them -be it through colors, or counting etc. What are some of your favorite open ended toys? I wanted to share with you our list of favorites so that you can get them for your kids and simplify your playrooms.
Wooden Blocks: Build houses, roads, bridges, towers, my girls could play with blocks for a really long time. These are great too because your kids will continue to play with them as they grow up.
Magnatiles: They are great because they teach about what a magnet is, you can build houses, trains, towers, you can count them, teach their colors, and make patterns.
Dollhouse Family: Maybe it’s because I have girls, but they love playing with dollhouse families. They love recreating moments from their lives and then creating new ones. I love it because it gives them the space to be creative and make new moments.
Animals: Toy animals are great to just play with, but you can also sort them by color, make patterns with them, use them to say what letters they start with, we like to play with them in our sensory bins, and we even sometimes play with them in playdough.
Play Kitchen: We love our play kitchen and like to use it to play house and restaurant. It’s been one of those toys that the girls play with a lot and the play food that we have is a great open ended toy as well. For example if you are looking to teach your kids about colors, go through and find the yellow corn, or the red apple.
Hardwood Learning Toys: These include the Melissa and Doug colored puzzles that are shapes -with these you can teach colors, shapes, and counting. They also have ones that are animals or people, these can be used as puzzles or you can just play with them as well.
Cars: Cars are often fun just to drive around and play with, but they have other purposes too. You can count them, sort them by color, and you can sort them by type, etc.
So, which toys do you have at home and which toys are you thinking about getting now?!
