Here we are in February. Finally. Last month was full of goal making and resolutions. Whatever it was, in some way – we were striving to do better at something. To improve somewhere. Let’s check in on that. How’s it going?
For me? Eh, not so good.
My main goal was to focus on self love. I challenged myself to say eleven nice things to myself in the mirror every day
And guess what, so far I have done that one time. Once. Was that what I had planned for myself? No.
But I will still move forward.
Because guess what? I am not a failure because I didn’t meet a goal I made for myself. And neither are you.
We are humans. We fall short. Life gets overwhelming and things like self love and small goals we’ve made for ourselves can vanish through the cracks.
So have I been doing well at my New Year’s goal? No. But does that mean I will not accomplish it at all? Nope. Perseverance is key, my friends. And it doesn’t just apply to those who haven’t given up. It applies to those who have given up. Those who keep falling and getting back up. We can preserve. Despite where we fell a little short.
I have a challenge for myself and for anyone reading this. 2020 is going to be our year. It’s okay to start over! So what. January was a total flop? Doesn’t matter.
February, here we come! Let’s challenge ourselves to make and KEEP one self love based goal this month. Maybe you’ll make healthier choices. Maybe you’ll cut out soda. Maybe you’ll take more walks just because it makes you happy. Maybe you’ll start a gratitude journal. Or call your mom more – because her voice always calms you. Find a hobby. Improve your skin care routine. Heck, or you can pull a Michael G. Scott and floss more. Whatever! Just give yourself a goal. Just for you. And absolutely crush it.
Feel free to join me on mine! I will be reciting the following self love affirmations to myself in the mirror every single day.
●I believe in myself and my abilities
●I deserve all good things
●I am thankful for all that I have
●I am beautiful
●I am doing my best
●I deserve the best and I accept the best
●I choose to be happy and love myself today
●I release all doubts and insecurities about myself
●I am proud of myself
●I am a good mom
●I am a good wife
Don’t we want to hear things like that every day? Don’t we deserve to? So why not hear it from our own mouths?
I have been struggling with self love for as long as I can remember. It’s truly a huge challenge for me. Which is why I had so much trouble with it last month. I just couldn’t bring myself to say just one nice thing to face. Let alone eleven.
But I deserve better. We deserve better.
So let’s actually do it. Let’s actually improve on loving the person we are and let it form us into the person we strive to be. Let it push us to where we want to be and deserve to be.
So have I been doing well with my New Year goals? Nope sure haven’t….not yet. But I will.
