A few weeks ago it snowed a half inch in Dallas and everything shut down. Coming from Utah it was pretty crazy to see because I remember going to elementary school with 4 feet of snow. “Snow days” didn’t exist! I kinda liked having one here though! Since we spent a few hours inside I decided to make a headboard that was inspired by my cute friend Kate.
It actually was easier than you might think.
Here is all you need: (The picture shows gray paint, make sure to grab black. These are all from Hobby Lobby.)
Then I went to Home Depot and had them cut three 2X4’s that looked like this (they are about 3/4′ in width):
Then I just laid 3 of them on the floor next to each other and started drawing the world! My friend was a genius and used a projector to trace the continents. I just eye balled it so mine isn’t to scale and some of the Islands I made up (don’t look too close geography buffs!)
Once you have it how you want with pencil, just paint and “color” it in!
This is the final product:
I’m pretty sure the hardest part of this project is hanging it up! You can use brackets or a wire. I ended up using both! Also, as you can see we have a queen size bed but it would definitely work for a king sized bed too. And down the road I might even put it in my son’s room. It really can go anywhere! Love me some DIY that turns out as a success;)
