Ok guys lets talk my favorite and go to hair products! I love hair, always have, so naturally I went into beauty school. There I tried all sorts of different products, then I learned what worked best with different hair styles etc I would do on clients. I worked at a beauty supply for a few years and got to try and learn even more about other products. These are my go to that keep my hair looking the way it does.
You can find them at Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta, and certain salons in your area. Google will give you a list. The only thing I would shy away from is buying them from your local grocery store or Amazon. The products there are usually watered down and repackaged so they tend to be a little cheaper. They also don’t work the same. Trust me I’ve bought and tested them against what I got at my beauty supply, definitely not the same.
• Sebastian Shaper Plus– I would buy this hair spray just for the smell. Plus I am a sucker for
hair spray that is flexible but still does its job. I don’t get flakes from it ( I even wash my hair
every 7-12 days ) I can go to sleep and wake up the next day without any stiff locks. Re-style
and apply again.
• Kerastase L’incroyable Blow-Dry Reshapable Lotion– When applying heat to your hair you
should ALWAYS protect it. Heat is extremely damaging to your locks. So I am always on the
hunt for one that does the job well without a ton of crappy fillers. The thing I love about this
one is that you don’t have to reapply the next day when applying heat again, its heat
activated so it will work whenever heat is applied to your hair repeatedly. It’s not heavy or
greasy and it smells yummy too. Plus it lasts awhile.
• Living Proof T.B.D Multi-Tasking Styler– I use this one on my hair as well as my little girls hair.
Its great for braids or curls, it really helps to maintain the shape of your hair, plus it smells
delicious. I don’t use this one very often, because I do notice that if I use it too much my hair
will start to collect dirt and get dirty faster. So I’ll usually use it on day one of curling my hair,
then I don’t use it again until after I wash my hair.
• Moroccan Oil– Man I can’t say enough good things about this one. I don’t go without it every.
Pure Argan oil is hard to come by and really important. When I worked in the beauty supply
world, and Moroccan Oil was first introduced, we would have to have stylists sign contracts
stating they wouldn’t resale this item. It’s that good! A lot of companies will sell Argan oil and
state that it’s pure, one way to tell if it is or not is if the late states 100% Argan oil. If it doesn’t
then its not pure. Another way to identify it is if it comes in a dark glass container because if
the oil is exposed to light then the properties break down and deteriorate. The biggest
benefits are added shine, control frizz, prevent split ends, repair damage, heat protectant,
and a great smoothing serum. I use it a total of 3x when styling, before I blow dry, before I
curl or flat iron, and my final step after styling.
• Moroccan oil Hydrating styling cream– I know I already use a styling cream, but this one I love
for when I wear my hair curly. It not only helps to prevent frizz and control the style but it has
all of the benefits of Argan oil listed above. This is my go to for curly hair!
• Living Proof Perfect hair Day– This dry shampoo is one of the only dry shampoo’s on the
market that has a cleansing agent in it. Most dry shampoo’s will soak up the oil and then the
product will matte in your hair and become gross. This one will cleanse the hair and the
debris will brush out of your hair, it also gets rid of any odor and is great for sweat. If you
have dark hair like I do, put your dry shampoo in at night ( I highly suggest everyone does this
anyway) and when you wake up if you still have any white residue, just take a damp cloth and
wipe clean wherever you have a white powder.
• Living Proof Dry Volume Blast– I’m obsessed with the smell in all Living Proof products, but
this one is by far the most yummy. I can wear this only without any perfume, and I get asked
all the time what perfume I am using. I love this one for volume without back combing. It
doesnt get as crusty as some do, but it does the job without feeling like I look like Madonna
in the 80’s. I also can avoid as much back combing with this guy. It’s seriously worth it just
for the smell. I also don’t get a ton of build up on my scalp or white flakes from this guy. If
you’re only going to buy one from this list, I urge you to buy this one. You can find it at Ulta.
And it lasts a while!
What are your favorite go to hair products that I need to try out and test? I would love to know
because I really do love discovering new things.
