It’s back to school for your littles, and no matter how it looks for your family it’s the time of new notebooks, pencils, and of course clothes! Back to school sales, new shoes, sweaters and long pants as the weather starts to get cooler—all of it is so fun and exciting! So why shouldn’t mom be able to participate too?
Back to school and the changing of the seasons is the perfect time for you to spruce up your own wardrobe. Just a few pieces can completely transform your wardrobe and give you great outfits that you can mix in and match with your current pieces.
Take a look at 5 back to school outfits you didn’t even know you needed to welcome fall this year!
I am Lulemon convert. I used to think it was dumb, too expensive, and not for me. But I am here to spread the good word of Lululemon. It is worth every penny. You totally get what you pay for! Everyone needs Lulu in their life, and I truly mean EVERYONE.
These leggings are built to last even if you wear them every day. I swear they were designed for moms who are constantly on-the-go. And LuluLemon will let you bring them back in for a repair if they rip on any of the seams! You could spend a bunch of money on a dozen pairs of leggings, or invest in something that will last.
They are comfortable (they feel like butter!) and have a pocket, the perfect spot for your phone, and a high rise that is built for moms who are nervous about their body, these leggings really can’t be beat. They’re great for working out, throwing on to go pick up the kids, taking a walk in the evening, cleaning the house, and everything in between. Pair them with any of your favorite t-shirts, workout tops, or buy some fun crop-tops to change it up!
A denim jacket is key for a perfect fall wardrobe. It can easily be thrown over a t-shirt to help you stay warm, be paired with a more dressy outfit to make it a bit more casual, or layered with a hoodie for a fun, young look. You can find a great denim jacket at any of your favorite stores, from Gap to Madewell. You can pick the wash, distressed style, and bagginess based on what you like. A denim jacket looks great on everyone, and is perfect for your back to school wardrobe.
Nothing says fall like cozying up in a large, chunky, warm sweater. This year, get ready for the cold weather before it hits and buy a great oversized sweater that will be perfect for the first day of fall. You can dress up an oversized sweater by pairing it with a short skirt and tights, or you can wear your favorite pair of jeans and go for a more casual look. Add some fun jewelry, a great pair of boots you love and turn a warm chunky sweater into the perfect look.
A big, oversized sweater is perfect for any body type. It’s also a great maternity option because the bump is perfectly covered, big or small! For moms who want a casual look that is also easy to dress up, an oversized sweater is the perfect go to.
Hunter boots are another one of my must-have items. If you live somewhere that ever rains or snows, these boots are lifesavers! They last so well, keep your feet nice and warm, and have great traction so you won’t slip. Throw them on to walk the kids to school or an activity, go play in puddles or the snow with your little ones, or rock them with a cute cold-weather outfit. I am all about multi-functional fashion and these boots are cute and actually functional for a busy mom! They’re a more casual look, but perfect to wear with leggings, sweats, or jeans.
I’m a mom, so I’m all about COMFORT. But you can dress up and look absolutely stunning while still being comfortable! I used to think jumpsuits were for tall super models.
NOPE.
Jumpsuits are for EVERY MAMA. Short or tall, whatever size, a jumpsuit can work on your body, I promise! It’s an instant way to make me feel more dressed up without having to wear a skirt or pants that are too tight. And I know people are annoyed about having to unzip to go to the bathroom, but it’s a super small price to pay. A jumpsuit easily translates from playing on the floor with the kids, to a work meeting, to date night. You can add jackets, scarves, jewelry, sweaters, and all kinds of accessories to turn a simple jumpsuit into a dozen outfits. It’s a must-have for every mom this back-to-school season.
As moms, so much of our identity is wrapped around our kids. But our clothes can still work for the demands of motherhood while making us feel awesome. So this back to school season, maybe it’s time to get back to YOU. Invest in some clothes that will help you feel great about yourself this fall, and give you something fun to look forward to. When you love your clothes, you’re more excited about getting up and getting dressed in the morning and you’re more confident throughout the day. You deserve that mama!
Being a mom doesn’t have to mean you wear the same outfit or be covered in messes all day. Of course, we all have days like that, and that’s wonderful. That’s part of being a mom! But you can also dress in clothes you love and feel confident and excited about the outfit you’re rocking. Buy those outfits for more than just your kids this year, get some special things for you too!
