We are nearly three weeks into the New Year, and I want to know: How are you doing on your goals? Are you crushing them? If you are, way to go! You’re awesome! Keep killin’ it!
Or are you like me and are struggling with working on all those goals you made? Let me tell you a secret: IT’S OKAY! You are not alone!
New Year’s Eve, my husband and I went over our goals for the next year, and I was so pumped to crush them! A few goals I set for myself are to exercise three times a week, go on regular walks with my boys, listen or read something uplifting every day, and meal plan and have dinner ready by 6 pm. I was going to get up the next day and work out, then make breakfast while listening to a motivational talk, and make a crockpot meal so dinner would be ready early. It sounded simple enough!
But lots of times, our plans don’t always work out. New Year’s Day, both my boys were running fevers and just wanted to be held, so doctor mama was on duty. The next day, I woke up with a fever, and honestly, all I wanted to do was sleep. So the first week of the New Year at my house was full of piles of laundry from the many blowouts and vomit, baths and showers for all of us, but best of all, our house was full of snuggles, because when someone’s sick, that’s all they want right?
I loved the snuggles, but I also wanted to get started on my goals because after all, it was the New Year. But really, who says you have to do it all at the beginning of the year? Aren’t goals all about improving yourself and becoming who you want to be? So instead of getting down on yourself because you haven’t been very consistent with your goals or even if you haven’t started yet, tell yourself: IT’S OKAY!
Goals should not be about perfection, but instead about your progress.
Always remember mama: You are amazing. You are strong. You are bright. You got this! I am cheering you on!
