There are very few things I love in this life more than a sale.
Dollar spot bin at Target? I’m there.
Coupons? Sign me up.
Someone compliments my dress? I let them know I got it for 7 bucks at Ross.
Even my online little girl boutique I run over here is so cheap, some days I feel like It’s not worth the work vs. profit, but I CAN’T help sharing deals you guys! IDK where this penny pinching obsession comes from, but I’m a pro at it. Since shifting to one income after we had our little Lucy, I have had to dedicate myself to scaling back.
Worth it to stay home with my daughter? Definitely. I’m sure many of you mamas are in the same boat.
SO…
I thought I’d share my favorite Dollar Store scores with you. These are things I ALWAYS purchase/would rather purchase at the Dollar Store rather than bigger name stores like Target or Walmart. Some products are even 50 cents depending on the Dollar Store.
1. Poopy Diaper Bags
Why are these great? I shove 50 of them in my diaper bag and it’s a quick tie and throw into the nearest garbage can, without the poopy diaper smell wafting throughout the public space you are in. Does it matter these are cheap? No, because you literally handle them for 15 seconds before throwing them into the garbage. They are sturdy and do their job! Savings: $2
2. Toothpaste & Toothbrushes
Surprisingly, the dollar store carries Crest, Colgate, Sensodyne…you name it! I’ll never spend 4 bucks on a tube of toothpaste again. The tubes are a little smaller than normal…but heck. It’s a dollar! You can also get super simple cheap toothbrushes in a pack of 6 (FOR A DOLLAR) for camping or vacations! Savings on both items: $5
3. Gift Bags & Tissue Paper
I never go anywhere else for gift bags and tissue paper (unless its holiday tissue paper for 30c during Christmas clearance at Target…heyoooo!). And the Dollar Store has been stepping up their swag game with florals and really cute designs lately, I am thoroughly impressed. Savings on both items: $5
4. Cards
I also never go anywhere else for cards. Thank you cards, birthday cards, anniversary cards, blank cards…..they are 50 cents which is a lot more reasonable for a piece of folded card-stock than some of the fancy Hallmark 6.99 cards. Savings: $6.50
5. Decorative Glass Decor
I filled up my wedding tables with Dollar Store glass centerpieces and filled them with candles and it was elegant as HECK 🙂 Savings on 5 vases: $15
6. Tupperware
Ever left something in the back of your fridge for a HOT SECOND (JK, more like weeks) and are too terrified to open the lid to clean the tupperware? Never fear. The Dollar Store has Betty Crocker tupperware to replace your 3 week old tuna dish that needs to go in the trash immediately. I am not ashamed to tell you this has happened many times to me. Savings: $2 and a bout of dry-heaving.
7. Hand Sanitizer
After my baby was born premature, I made everyone lather themselves in hand sanitizer. I’d much rather pay $1 instead of $3 for the exact same ingredient just with a fancy name brand sticker. Savings: $2
8. Bar & Hand Soap
Ya’ll. The Dollar Store has Soft Soap, Dial, and JERGEN’S moisturizing hand soap. Say no more. My sinks are stocked! Savings: $2
9.Extra Dishes
I am always impressed by a few of the Dollar Store’s plate/bowl/mug collection. If I saw this at a name brand store, you BET I’d pay wayyyy more for it. Throw a celebrity on the name brand box and I’m even MORE likely to pay big bucks for it! But for real, it never hurts to have cute, cheap backup dinnerware. Savings on 5 items: $20
10. Travel Deodorants
Speedstick, Suave, Arm & Hammer, and the sizes are BIGGER than the travel ones at name brand stores! No need to do the not so discreet armpit sniff. Just carry one of your many cheapo travel deodorants with you 🙂 I may or may not have extra deodorant stashed in my car for this very reason. Savings: $3
If you guys bought everything I just listed, you would be UNDER 12 bucks compared to spending least 50-75 bucks or more at name brand stores at full price! If anyone else has certain products they score at the Dollar Store, I’d LOVE to know 🙂
