Hello mamas! I’m so excited to finally post my very first mamahood post. This blog and FB chat group have been so amazing and I’m so grateful to be a part of it all. I seriously have learned so much from all of you and hope that I can give back a little bit. 🙂
So I kept going back and forth this past week. What in the world should my first post be about?? I’m an esthetician and can’t wait to share some of my beauty/skin tips and tricks, but I’m also excited to share motherhood experiences, struggles, advice, etc. With so many options, it was still so hard to decide…BUT THEN yesterday we had an experience that I couldn’t wait to share.
This week is our annual trip to Chicago to visit my in-laws. Every summer, the entire family (5 sons, their wives and children) travel to Grammi and Poppi’s house for a fun-filled week. We all live across the USA from Utah to New Jersey and only get the entire family together once a year! So basically this summer trip is what we live for. Well– if any of you have been to Chicago (or this side of the country) then you know that its hot and sweaty during this time of year. Can I just say how much I hate the humidity? I know that it’s good for my skin but ew. Feeling sticky and sweaty while we play and do activities outside, really just gets to me. I’m partial to the “blow dryer in your face” type of dry heat that we get in St. George! 😉
Anyway– I started to notice that this wet, heat must be getting to my 14 month old too. I lifted up his shirt after our first day here and noticed that he had a red rash covering his back. “Um what? What is this?” Henry has never had a rash before this and I, being the first-time-mom that I am, got super nervous. I was trying to think if he had eaten something new, if I had used a different laundry detergent, etc. The list of questions just went on and on. My sister-in-law mentioned that it might be a heat rash but wasn’t sure. She recommended that we take his shirt off, get him inside and let him cool off a bit. I kept my eye on it the rest of the night but it still hadn’t changed. The next day, my sister-in-law recommended that we try a product that I had seen at the store but never tried. Aveeno Baby Soothing Bath Treatment. I love Aveeno products and knew that this colloidal oatmeal bath soak would definitely be soothing, if nothing else. So we gave it a shot! I won’t lie– the bath water looked super nasty but ‘you gotta do whatchya gotta do’.. Right? Plus, it didn’t seem to bother him one bit. We bathed like normal and that was it!
NO JOKE– while getting his pajamas on, I noticed that the redness in the rash had seriously almost disappeared completely. I could still feel the rash and see that it was there but it literally wasn’t red anymore. The next morning I checked his back again and nothing! The rash had disappeared completely!! I was so impressed.
This product is fantastic! I’ve read so many reviews since and have realized that this product can help lots of different things. It’s mainly intended for eczema but helps so much more than that. So if your little one has dry/itchy skin, an irritated rash, eczema or anything else that needs a little moisture and soothing.. this is it! I will definitely keep this product on hand from now on.
**Aveeno did not pay me to write this review. This is all based on my own personal experience and opinion!
