FHE Toddler Edition: Lesson #10

April 9, 2017 in Family Home Evening Lessons / Uncategorized

First off, I have had so many sweet and wonderful comments about these little FHE lessons I made. Thank you so much! I have tried to think of ways for you to just be able to have a downloadable version with all the lessons. But until I can figure out the best way to do that (and to make it look cute), we will continue with these posts as often as I can! (Plus, it holds our little family accountable in doing FHE too!)

I love hearing your experiences so let me know what has worked/not worked with these lessons with your family! I love hearing feedback! You all are so wonderful! Here is lesson 10.

FHE Toddler Edition: Lesson #9

September 19, 2016 in Family Home Evening Lessons

Hi sweet friends! I haven’t been able to do too much with my blog recently, but I’m keepin’ up with these family nights we’ve been doing! I have been loving the sweet comments, e-mails, and feedback from so many of you. Knowing that you’ll be here every Monday makes it worth it for me to keep posting! (And I secretly love that we’re all doing the same thing every Monday… it’s kinda like we get to hang out from a distance! 😉 )

This season of life is busy for me… that or I make it that way. Being busy is NOTHING to be proud of, but it’s something that helps me not dwell on things or get too homesick. I have so many thoughts swarming that I want to share and updates on our family, so I hope you’ll stick with me during the slower times of my blog! And if you’re one of the ones who checks back every Monday, I just love you and know your family will be so blessed by doing these simple lessons every week. Life sometimes can be pretty rocky, but I promise that the little things are the big things. I’ve learned recently that it’s so easy to let being “busy” take front row and the important things get pushed aside, but the second we stop doing the little things, hills turn into mountains and rain turns into storms. But the second we allow the gospel in our home, life might still be hard, but we gain a light and strength that is so necessary. Necessary for ourselves, but more importantly for our babies who have yet to grow up in this world.

Here is this week’s lesson teaching one of those simple things we should always remember:

 Lesson #9: A Child’s Prayer

Opening Prayer

Opening Song: A Child’s Prayer (here)

Scripture: 3 Nephi 18: 21 (here)

Lesson: Discuss what it means to pray and who we are talking to when we pray. Teach the steps of a prayer: beginning, end, and how we bow our heads and close our eyes.

Activity: Paint prayer rocks

Closing Prayer

Treat: Chocolate covered bananas

FHE Toddler Edition: Lesson #3

August 1, 2016 in Family Home Evening Lessons

Hi friends! I know it’s been awhile since I started posting my toddler FHE lessons. I wanted to get a good feel to see if people were actually using them and after a bunch of requests to keep posting them, here we are! To make them easier to find, just click the dropdown on my “family” tab and there will be a section just for these lessons. I hope that helps!

*And if you have no idea what FHE or Family Home Evening is, you can read more about it HERE)

Our family is so far from perfect, but something that helps our home feel happy is by always having family night every Monday. I made these lessons using primary songs and followed the primary manual. They are as simple as can be, which for this stage in our lives has been perfect.

Lesson #3: Families Can be Together Forever

Opening Prayer

Opening Song: Families Can be Together Forever (music: HERE)

Scripture: (Proclamation to the World) The Family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Lesson: Ask each child to go around in a circle saying everyone’s names and their favorite thing about them. Talk about why families are special to us and why we need to love our families. (When our family did this we went around in a circle saying things that we loved about each other). Explain how our families can be together forever.

Activity: Go outside and play together as a family OR draw a picture of the whole family.

Closing Prayer

Treat: Banana splits with M&M’s on top to represent each person in their family.

I have LOVED seeing the pics you’ve sent me from your family nights! If you post them tag #mamahoodFHE so I can see! Love you all!

FHE Toddler Edition: Lesson #2

April 11, 2016 in Family Home Evening Lessons / For Kids / For Mamas

Hi sweet friends! I got some amazing feedback from last week so I figured I’d keep going with these little Family Home Evenings. Thank you all so much for sending me your messages and pictures of your activity last week! I loved seeing it! Here is this week’s lesson: (As usual, always very simple!)

Lesson #2: My Heavenly Father Loves Me

Opening Prayer

Opening Song: My Heavenly Father Loves Me (music: HERE)

Scripture: 3 Nephi 17:11-12, 21-24 (scripture: HERE)

Lesson: Show a picture of Christ holding children (HERE) and talk about when Jesus taught the people he asked to bring their little ones to Him. (Point to little ones.) They sat on the ground around Him and Jesus knelt and prayed. (Show how we pray – kneel and bow heads) Then he blessed each child, one by one. Jesus did this because he loves his children. (hug themselves). Talk about the things we just sang about (birds, sky, lilac tree, etc.) and explain that Heavenly Father sends us those things to enjoy on the earth because He loves us. Explain to your child/children how much you love them and how much Heavenly Father loves them too.

Activity: Have them draw a picture of themselves inside a heart OR frost heart-shaped cookies.

Closing Prayer

Treat: Heart-shaped sugar cookies (click HERE for my swig recipe that you can use)

Let me know how this week goes!
